Think I betta let it go…

Hey Fam.

Yeah, from the lyrics of a soultry singer, Teddy Pendegrass, I titled this post, ‘Think I betta let it go’ from his “LOVE TKO’ song. HA HA!   This has been a crazy week.  While each day was happening it seemed to take forever but by Sunday in hindsight it seemed to fly by.  So as I started getting organized and catching up with friends and fam, I noticed changes within my associations.  The ones that are still with me and the ones that have faded away.  I also noticed the ones that bounce in and out of my life like I’m on ‘hold’ until they decide I’m worth a thought in their mind.

Maybe it’s not like that for them, but on the receiving end that ain’t cool.  So it reminds me of a sermon that a pastor did a few years ago in my home town.  It was about KNOWING when to let things go.  Things meaning, dreams, people, jobs or whatever you’re clinging too that in your mind should happen or should be BUT AIN’T!

Bottom line, you really have to EVALUATE stuff in your life at least yearly. Sometimes we hold on to things that we should have let go of days ago, weeks ago, months ago and…sadly YEARS ago.  Then we wonder why it isn’t working out for us the way we hoped or planned.

So do yourself a favor.  Sit down with a pad and pen.  Write down your goals, desires, personality and character traits.  Matter of fact, include your spiritual beliefs and overall life principles.   I know it feels like homework.  But you’d be surprised about what you learn about yourself and who you ‘hang’ with.

Then think about the people in your life who contribute to those elements, who enhance them or flow with you.  Now don’t get me wrong.  A person can be your total opposite in everything and contribute to your life greatly but when it’s a constant tug of war or a negative experience, then search your heart, mind and spirit and know what’s right for you.  A friend of mine and I were talking about this earlier today. But it’s HARD to ‘let things’ go. Because you feel like you’ve failed or given up on it but sometimes you’re supposed to LET IT GO!

Think about YOUR definition of a FRIEND and decide are you really surrounded by them.  People come into your life for a season, reason and a lifetime. It’s up to you to learn which!  Childhood dreams are meant to be remembered and insipre you but as you grow sometimes there’s a twist or curve in that dream that may need to be rethought or disgarded all together.  Think about it.  What are some things you need to let go?

have a great week!
