Publisher A, reject

Okay.  I started off this year with a publisher whose authors and publications for a certain genre I thought fit P2l.   I sent the query early January 2011 and got a response last week.  It was a FORM response, but this is the 2nd time I’ve been rejected by this publisher.

Now granted this is the SAME book I pitched 3 years ago [when I was half-assing  my submissions a few years ago]  but still, the book has been re-written a couple of times and it’s in way better shape.   I love this story more now than ever and it’s a better product.  And really, I’ve never submitted this manuscript, I’ve only submitted the query letter, which leads me to believe I have to work on the query.

I revamped the query and submitted it to a couple of  trusted “writer”  associates for their honest  opinion.  In the mean time, now that I’ve put the tip of my toe in, now I’m really going to  be on a submission blast.   I’m compiling a list of a agents and publishers  to submit the revamped query for P2l and a couple of other books to over the next 4 weeks.

Here goes nothing!

Sometimes you need to make a wrong turn

Okay,  I get bored easily so I do jump from story to story when I’m writing.  Multiple projects can be fun but also a headache.  I don’t know about you but in the past I would have so many projects I dabbled in that I never ‘completed’ any of them.   Eventually as I matured as a writer and learned it’s more than just talent and inspiration-  I was able to commit myself to writing and eventually began finishing projects.  I try to focus on one project as much as possible but when I need a break, I don’t stop writing, I just focus another story or script.  You know, change things up a bit.

I’ve also learned in this digital age, less is more.  You’ll learn what I’m  talking about over time if you keep tuned into this blog.  For now let’s just say.  I’ve stumbled across some ideas that I hope will definitely push my writing to a new level.

Anyway, I took a break from writing TXS and now I’m writing a short story.  It’s working title is Wrong Turn @ Cedar Bluffs.  I’m looking forward to submitting it to some contests or just having it as a free read for my website.  The main thing is I needed a break from TXS and ER and editing P2L.  Sometimes you write, rewrite, edit the same story you need a break, or at least I do.  But in order to ‘keep writing’ I jot things down in my journal, this blog or write short stories.

What do you do to ‘keep’ you writing when you’re burnt out on ‘the writing’ aspect of a particular story?   I love my stories.  And I enjoy them, but sometimes I wish I could SKIP over the writing, rewriting and editing to a polished draft.  LOL

TxS

TxS used to be titled, Road Trip. I started writing this book mid 2009 right after I bought my first house. So yeah, the writing fell off after a while but in late 2010 I got my groove back again. I re-wrote chapters and gave it a new name, not yet to be revealed as it is a WIP [work in progress]. It’s a GREAT start to an interesting series.

As the series unfolds you’ll see that the heroine’s life will grow to encompass more action and suspense than any ordinary TEXAS Girl can imagine.  She’ll be the start of a ‘movement’ in romance novels that I hope to create a niche for.  We’ll see.  Honestly, I haven’t seen anything like it on the net or in bookstores or in films so far. NOT saying that someone out there doesn’t have a similar idea but I hope my twist on it is fresh. My schedule is kinda of hectic with a full-time job, part-time school and other literary projects but I hope to be working on the 2nd draft of TxS before April.
